馬他得米納是個有著悠久咖啡生產歷史的地區。這個區域中，由於海拔高度（800-1300公尺）與氣候，所生產的咖啡與中美洲的很類似。這裡的咖啡較巴西其他地方的咖啡成熟的晚。
這裡的咖啡有著古典與細緻的味道，攙雜著烤杏仁的香味，口中則有煙草與巴斯馬提米（basmati，當地所產的一種米）的味道。
